About TylerTyler Katz is currently a graduate assistant at Carson-Newman University, serving play-by-play duties for Carson-Newman basketball, baseball, volleyball, and soccer. Additionally, he is the primary contact for Carson-Newman volleyball, track and field, and men's and women's tennis.
In college, Katz served as the Sports Director of 3304 Sports, the online multi-media home for sports media at Virginia Tech. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.A. in Sports Media and Analytics with a minor in Meteorology in December of 2023. As Sports Director of 3304 Sports, Katz managed a group of about 150 students through broadcasts of Virginia Tech athletics, recap articles, podcasts, studio shows, and more including two week-long trips to the ACC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments in Greensboro, North Carolina and Brooklyn, New York. Katz also has three years of professional experience serving as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Pierre Trappers, a summer collegiate baseball team in the Expedition League based in Pierre, South Dakota, and the Waterloo Bucks, a summer collegiate baseball team in the Northwoods League in Waterloo, Iowa. Most recently, he served as one of the broadcasters for the Salem Red Sox of Minor League Baseball, the Single-A Affiliate for Boston, where he was a part of the youngest duo of broadcasters in affiliated baseball. Additionally, he has served in freelance roles throughout the Southeast United States with the ACC Network Extra, the Virginia Tech Sports Network from Learfield, cusa.tv, The Gulf South Conference, and WXSM AM Radio (TN). |
